Welcome
Hello! Welcome to the pen to paper foundation...we're glad You're here.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill
The Pen to Paper Foundation was created because of a genuine desire to see the needs of less fortunate scholars in the greater Cape Town area met through the generosity of local schools who have more than they require. Many children struggle to complete or maximise their education simply due to a basic lack of resources – the opportunity to go to school is there but the tools needed to learn are not and this causes a hurdle for lots of students from a very young age.
It has been since living in Cape Town that the founder of Pen to Paper noticed the annual luxury that many scholars have of swapping their old stationery and books for new items when the school year begins. The obvious link for her was to take the spare and unused stationery and make it available to schools where pupils struggle to afford the basics. Not only this, but to also see it as a wonderful opportunity to give children the chance to give to other children, learn the importance of helping others and give back to the community.
Through The Pen to Paper Foundation we are hoping to create a sustainable flow of resources to a growing network of schools and are very excited at the opportunities this will create and where it may lead as we expand. Pen to Paper started in November 2018 and has already been met with such a positive response.
We have already established local support from businesses and schools, and aim to grow Pen to Paper by attracting like-minded volunteers to assist in the liaison and communication required to achieve the Foundation’s goals. If you feel called to assist in this exciting challenge please get in touch.
